Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 8 medium fresh figs halved
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, halved figs, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the fruit evenly.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to a greased baking dish.
Make the Crumble Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.
